Welcome to the official website of the 2020 Bill Springer Invitational ‘Mad Dog’ Singles!
The event this year is being held once again at East Launceston Bowling & Community Club on the 14th and 15th of September.
This is the 6th year of the ‘Mad Dog’ and promises to be another stern test with a quality field expected to compete. The first ‘Mad Dog’ in 2014, was won by Commonwealth Games Gold Medallist and legend Kelvin Kerkow OAM in scintillating fashion by the barest of margins from another former Australian Rep Lee Schraner.
2015 saw some changes to the event with the number of participants increasing from 24 to 32 becoming an Open Gender event with qualifying positions made available in each region. On a glorious Spring weekend Schraner turned the tables to snag the title and place the ‘Mad Dog’ plaque on his trophy wall. In 2016 it was Christmas Dudman who lifted the plaque amongst a star studded field including Ryan Bester and Ryan Burnett.
The ‘Mad Dog’ is expected to attract a star studded field and offers a unique opportunity for Tasmanian bowlers to test their wares against the best in the game and enjoy each other’s company in a weekend filled with fun. Former participants have included Kelvin Kerkow, Ryan Bester, Ryan Burnett, Matt Flapper, Peter Loe, Carla Odgers, Aaron Wilson, Nathan Wilson, Neville Rodda and our own local stars in Mark Nitz, Mark Strochnetter, Chris Dudman, Bec Van Asch and Lee Schraner.
